Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about LIGTAS
What is LIGTAS?
LIGTAS (Location-Integrated Geographic Tracking and Surveillance System) is a GIS-based disease surveillance system for the Community Health Office of San Fernando City, La Union.
Who can use LIGTAS?
LIGTAS has three portals: Patient (for residents to view their cases), CHO (for health officers to manage cases), and Admin (for system administrators and report generation).
What diseases does LIGTAS monitor?
LIGTAS monitors all notifiable diseases as defined by the DOH, including HFMD, Dengue, Measles, AWD/AGE, Typhoid, Chikungunya, and Leptospirosis.
How do I read the GIS map?
The map uses color intensity (choropleth) — the darker the color, the higher the number of cases in that barangay. No color means no cases.
How do I report a disease case?
Only CHO health officers can encode cases. If you are a patient, you can check your case status after it has been encoded by the CHO.
Is my health data safe?
Yes. LIGTAS follows the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173). Your personal health information is kept strictly confidential.
How is the risk level determined?
Barangays are classified as Low Risk (1-7 cases), Moderate Risk (8-14 cases), or High Risk (15+ cases) based on their total case count.
What does the "Verify Later" option mean?
In emergencies, patients can be registered without verifying their mobile number. Unverified accounts cannot receive SMS updates until verified.
